Sea captain; member of the Massachussetts legislature called the General
Court, meeting in Boston. he and his wife built a home (c. 1800) at 16
Union Street in Nantucket, with a garden extending to the water. It was
still standing in 1944. Married his first cousin, Sally Coffin, widow of
Samuel Barret, on January 23, 1794, at Nantucket.
