Attended school at Bartlett, then at Estacado, Texas, and subsequently
pursued a high school course at Corsicana, Texas. After attending Simmons
College, Abilene, Texas, John W. Goode entered the University of Texas
Medical School at Galveston, Texas, from which he was graduated with the
class of 1912, receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine. He then spent
his internship at Santa Rosa in San Antonio, Texas, in which city he has
since been engaged in an active and successful medical and surgical
practice. In May 1918, Dr. Goode joined the United States Medical Corps.
He served first at the American University at Washington, D.C. in the
chemical warfare department. He was sent to France with Evacuation Unit
No. 23; and served on the surgical staff of Evacuation Hospital No. 8,
and returned to the United States again with Evacuation Unit No. 23 about
May of 1919, and was honorably discharged at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in
June of 1919. He resumed practice immediately with the medical and
surgical hospital that was being organized and later became medical
director of the Alamo life Insurance Company and was called upon to
prepare and read on the radio papers concerned with the prevention and
cure of diseases. The pleasant and attractive family home is at 125 East
Rosewood Street, San Antonio, Texas.
