Count Henri II's father was Count Thibault I de Bar-le-Duc and his mother was Isabelle de Bar-Sur-Seine. His paternal grandparents were Count Renaud II de Bar and Agnes de Champagne; his maternal grandparents were Count Guy of Bar and Peronelle of Chacenay. He was an only child.
