Ida's father was Thomas Woodruff and her mother was Pamelia Jane Welch. Her maternal grandparents were John George Welch and Celicia Elizabeth Sandifer. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, George, John, Will, Mary Cordelia, Ada and Katy.-
