George Tompkins 
George was born on September 4th, 1796 in Caroline Co., VA. George's father was Bennet Dickerson Tompkins and his mother was Elizabeth Matilda Redd. His paternal grandparents were Captain Robert Reade Tompkins and Ann Dickinson; his maternal grandparents were William Redd and Frances Tyler. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Augustus, Robert William, Bennet, Jr., Lucy Redd, Matilda and Harriet. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at 11 months old in August 1797.-
