His paternal grandparents were Anthony Thornton(Ormsby) II and Susannah Fitzhugh. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George Fitzhugh, William Fitzhugh, Edward Digges, Susannah Fitzhugh, Mary Ann D. and Elinor.1 General Notes
