Daniel was born on August 28th, 1785 in Loudon Co., VA.  Daniel's father was Captain Richard Spurr and his mother was Frances Cotton.  His paternal grandparents were James Spurr and Judith Williams; his maternal grandparents were William Cotton and Mary Taylor.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 47 on October 14th, 1832 in Fayette Co., KY.
