Lucy Addison's father was James Cresap Sprigg and his mother was Lucy Eliason Addison. His paternal grandparents were Michael Cresap Sprigg and Mary Lamar; his maternal grandfather was Thomas Belt Addison. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Colonel James Cresap, Dr. William Mercer, Floyd Addison, Patterson, Esq., Eliza Addison (Lillie) and Mary Lamar.
