1 Rosena Gertrude's father was David Bernard Powers and her mother was Mary Rosena Thornton. Her maternal grandparents were Champe Brockenbrough Thornton and Elizabeth Grammer. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Charles Presley, James Thomas, William Thornton, David Bernard, Elizabeth Grammer, Frances Brockenbrough and Jennie Taylor.1 General Notes
