Lydia was born about 1762. Lydia's father was Mordecai Mobley and her mother was Dorcas Read. Her maternal grandparents were Harmon Read and Ann Unknown. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Pharaby, Jesse, Amelia, Media "Middy", Susannah "Sukey", Edith, Mary "Molly", Mavil and Olive.-
