Rosa Magdelene Hartman 
Rosa Magdelene was born on August 27th, 1892 in Pesotum, , Illinois.1 Rosa Magdelene's father was George Fridolin Hartman and her mother was Katherine Metz. Her paternal grandparents were John Joseph Hartman and Elizabeth Alig Wissel; her maternal grandparents were Stephen Metz and Eva Pistner. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John Joseph, George Adam, Albert Lawrence, Leo Otto, William Victor, Barbara Genevieve, Mary Anna, Elizabeth Margaret, Emma Katherine and Clara Frances. She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 89 on October 27th, 1981 in Muenster, Cooke, Texas. She was buried in Muenster, Cooke Co., Texas.1 1 General Notes

! Rosa was born in Pesotum, Illinois and moved to Muenster, Texas
with her family when she was thirteen years old. Felix was born in
Trent, Nebraska and was six years old when his family moved to
Muenster. Muenster was five years old when he arrived. Rosa and Felix
were married January 26, 1915 in the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster
by Father Joseph Huyler O.S.B. They were married at the 6:00 AM Mass
so they could board the train for Lawton, Oklahoma, where they spent
their honeymoon. Their attendants were Leo Hartman, the bride's
brother and Miss Mary Becker, the groom's sister. The weather was cold
and blustery. Rosa walked across the street from her home to the
Sacred Heart Church for the Nuptial Mass. Afterward the bridal party
and family members walked back to the house for breakfast. After the
meal the newlyweds went to the depot where there were two trains
waiting on the track. One headed east and the other headed west. No
one knew which train Rosa and Felix were taking except Rosa's father.
He put their luggage aboard unnoticed and helped them get on. When the
trains pulled out, the waiting crowd didn't know which train to shower
with rice. Mr. Hartman told the crowd they could take their rice home
and eat it. Rosa and Felix farmed all their married life time. And
for eight years, 1937 to 1945, they operated the Muenster Hatchery.
They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in January of 1965.
