Ralph Shelton was born before 1704. Ralph Shelton's father was Richard Gessage and his mother was Sarah Ellis Shelton Gissage. His maternal grandparents were John Shelton and Eleanor Parks. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Sir William, Baronet, Joseph, Jr., John, Charles, Francis, James, Jane, Elizabeth and Frances.
