Matilda Layton was born on July 17th, 1839 in Portsmouth, OH.1 Matilda Layton's father was Elias Layton and her mother was Mary Walls Layton. Her paternal grandparents were Elias Layton and Abigail Williams. She had five sisters named Sarah Layton, Rebecca, Jane, Synthia (Cynthia ?) and Lena (?). She was the oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 74 on May 7th, 1914 in Dieterich, IL.1 General Notes
