Martha "Patsy"'s father was Henry III Dickenson and her mother was Elizabeth Bickley. Her maternal grandparents were Charles Bickley and Marie Hatler. She had four brothers and five sisters, named James H., John W., Robert, Henry P., Nancy P., Priscilla, Caroline V., Eliza Ann and Elizabeth.
