Pope II's father was Count Guillaume I de Bourgogne and his mother was Stephanie de Vienne. His paternal grandparents were Count Raynald I de Burgogne and Alice of Normandy. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Count Raymond Berenger of, Count Etienne I, Maud, Clemence, Ermentrude and Gisele.-
