Thomas Russell was born in 1816 in Georgia. Thomas Russell's father was Thomas Ivie and his mother was Mary Ann Rucker. His paternal grandparents were John Lott Ivie and Winifred UNKNOWN; his maternal grandparents were George Sr. Rucker and Katherine Ehart. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Payton, Willis Rucker, Burrell, Turner Wilson, Hampton G., Francis, Elizabeth, Millie, Cynthia and Millicent. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.-
