Celestia Jane's father was James Alexander Ivie and her mother was Elizabeth Sophia Porter. Her paternal grandparents were James Russell Ivie and Eliza McKee Fausett. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James William, John Alvin, Joseph Alma, Charles Albert, Willis, Frank, Alice, Lilly Isadore, Eliza, Lydia Ann and Elizabeth. She had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Jared Alexander, Russell, Sanuel, LaFelt, Henry, Sarah, Amy Louise, Belle, Laura and Mina.-
