Augustus Van Buren was born in 1837. Augustus Van Buren's father was Stephen Ivy and his mother was Mary Ann Warren. His paternal grandparents were John Ivie and Nancy Glass. He had eight brothers and a sister, named Charles J., Andrew Jackson, John Anderson, Littleton M., Hugh W. [Hew], Michael W., George Thomas, Joshua Hall and Cinthia. He was the second youngest of the ten children.-
