Iorwerth "Drwyndwn" was born in 1145 in Wales. Iorwerth "Drwyndwn"'s father was Owain "Gwynedd" Ap Gruffydd and his mother was Gwladus Verch Llywarch. His paternal grandparents were Gruffydd Ap Cynan and Angharad Verch Owain; his maternal grandparents were Llywarch Ap Trahaearn and Dyddgu Verch Iorwerth. He was an only child. He died at the age of 39 in 1184.
