May 7, 1629---married his 2nd wife Margery Rockett at Crewkerne

March 30, 1630--Sailed from England on the ship "Mary & John" admitted upon taking the oath of Freeman on March 04, 1632

June 08, 1630---arrived America

March 4, 1632---Oath of Freeman in Massachusetts Bay Colony

Settled in Dorchester-- one of Dorchester's first settlers an proprietors of the town

1633 First Selectman and one of first proprietors in this plantation and was chosen chairman of the Board of Selectmen in America

Established the first free public school in the country

First town meeting in America and model for all such meetings. Eltweed presided over this first town meeting .

June 03, 1634--appointed by General Court, Constable of Dorchester.

Granted 1000 acres of land to establish a gunsmithery

October 23,1635-- Removed to Windsor Conn. and in1671-2, and owned 1000 acres on the Connecticut Riv., removed to Northampton, Mass.

1638--granted land. He had a house and lot in the palisadeo which he later sold leavingf Winsdor.

1671--removed to Northampton to live with son Medad,according to tradition Eltweed had become blind. Died there att 88 years old.

Traces his pedigree back to Sir Ralf de Pomery, a favorite knight of William the Conqueror, whom he accompanied into England, acting a conspicious part in the Battler of Hastings, fought October 14, 1066, anf afters building a castle called Berry Pomeroy, still in preservation on the grant which he received from the crown.---Easthampton
