Philip Dold married a sister of "Old Harry Miller", of Mossy Creek, who owned an iron furnace and was a man of means and importance. He founded "Miller's Iron Works"; following his death, his administrators on September 6, 1911 advertised a
sale of the furnace and forge as well as 8000 acres of land, "supposed to be the most valuable property of its kind in Virginia."
