Notes for Jonathan Morey:
According to a Plymouth court record, 2/2/1657, Jonathan was ordered not to frequent the house of Richard Foster during Richard's absence and that Jonathan had until "June court next" to corrent the "default". Within the next year Richard died and Jonathan married his widow, Mary. There is some opinion that at least one of the children of Richard's was really the child of Jonathan. Barclay disagrees stating that such an event would have become known and their would have been more severe court punishment. Of Mary's two children by her first marriage, Mary probably died in infancy and Benjamin was probably unmarried. On June 27, 1659, just before Mary's 2nd marriage she made an agreement with Jonathan about Benjamin. If Mary pre-deceased Jonathan then the whatever care was necessary for Benjamin would fall to Mary's father or her brother, Benjamin, or her brother-in-law, William Harlow. Jonathan's 2nd wife had 5 children by her 1st marriage and 4 by her 2nd.
