Genealogical Register of the First Settlers of New England
HOWLAND, JOHN, one of the first pilgrims, was elected an assistant of Plymouth colony from 1633 to 1635, 3 years, d. 23 Feb. 1673, . about 80, being the "last of those in the town of Plymouth who came in the May-Flower 1620." Henry Howland was one of the proprietors of Bridgewater in 1645, and might be a son. Rev. John Howland, H. C. 1741, of Carver, who d. 4 Nov. 1804, . 84, was a descendant.
