Narrative

Edward's son, Samuel, married Jane Lathrop, daughter of Rev. John Lathrop of Christ's College, Cambridge. Lathrop was educated at Oxford University; was pastor of the First Congregational Church, London. Samuel Fuller was a physician. William Bradford said of Samuel Fuller: "The beloved physician of both the Pilgrims and Indians. He was one of the noolest of the Mayflower group, with a gentle tolerance and a wide outlook on life," of which one indication is found in his deep friendship for Roger Williams, who was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge. In Dr. Samuel Fuller's will provision was made for the education of his son Samuel, his daughter Mercy and his nephew Samuel and also for others "put to him for schooling" with special mention of Sarah Converse "left to me by her sick father."
