Maud (Mathilda) de Carinthia 
Maud (Mathilda) was born in 1097 in Austria.1 Maud (Mathilda)'s father was Ingelbert II Duc de Carinthia and her mother was Utha von Sulzbach. Her paternal grandparents were Engelbert I Lavanthal Ct de Lavanthal and Hedwig (de Lavanthal); her maternal grandfather was Ulric von Putten. She was an only child. She died at the age of 63 in 1160 in France.1 General Notes

She was a member of the dynasty which is now called "Sponheimer" and which survives in (for example) the Princes of Sayn and the Counts of Ortenburg. She was a daughter of Engelbert II (d. 1141), Duke of Carinthia from 1090, and his wife Uta of Passau. See the Schwennicke revision of *Europaeische Stammtafeln*, Band IV, Tafel 118.
