Sir Gunceline was born about 1232 in Chilham, Kent.1 Sir Gunceline's father was Giles de Badlesmere and his mother was Margaret Leveland. His paternal grandfather was William de Badlesmere. He was an only child. He died in Castle Badlesmere, Kent.1
