Samuel was born in 1652 in Boston, Suffolk, MA.1 Samuel's father was Nathaniel Wales and his mother was Isabel Atherton. His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Wales and Unknown Bullock; his maternal grandparents were Humphrey Atherton and Mary Wales. He had two brothers and a sister, named Nathaniel, Jonathan and Mary. He died at the age of 60 in 1712 in , Dorcester, MA.1 -
