Hugues I de la Roche was born in 1020 in of Chastellerault, Vienne, France.1   Hugues I de la Roche's father was Boso I Vct de Chastellerault and his mother was Amelia (de Chastellerault).  His paternal grandparents were Airaud V Vct de Chastellerault and Gersende de Mortimer.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 55 in 1075.1
