John Van Gilder

John was born in 1786 in , Cape May, NJ.¹   John's father was Jeremiah Van Gilder and his mother was Sarah Sharpe.  His paternal grandparents were Johannes Van Gilder and Elizabeth Adams. He had a brother and three sisters, named Peter, Sarah, Sophia and Marjory.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 85 in 1871.¹
