Martha was born in 1772 in , Charles City, VA.1 Martha's father was Thomas Jefferson and her mother was Martha Wayles. Her paternal grandparents were Peter Jefferson and Jane Randolph. She had four sisters named Jane Randolph, Mary, Lucy Elizabeth and Lucy Elizabeth. She was the oldest of the five children.-
