Jacobus was born on March 29th, 1689 in Albany, Albany, NY. Jacobus' father was Pierre Degarmeaux and his mother was Catrina van der Heyden. His maternal grandparents were Jacob Tijssen van der Heyden and Anna Hals. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Peter, Johannes, Matthew, Dirk, Abraham, Jelles, Ann, Maria and Agnetje. He died at the age of 57 on August 12th, 1746 in Staten Island, NY.-
