Josiah was born in 1784 in Royalston, Worcester, MA.1 Josiah's father was Benjamin Clark and his mother was Mehitable Edson. His maternal grandparents were David Edson and Susanna Gannett. He had four brothers and a sister, named Eber, Samuel, Benjamin, Edson and Polly. He was the second oldest of the six children.-
