Her paternal grandparents were John Cary and Elizabeth Hereford; her maternal grandparents were Francis Godfrey and Elizabeth Hall. She had six brothers and five sisters, named John, Jonathan, Joseph, James, Francis, David, Elizabeth, Mary, Hannah, Rebecca and Mehitable.-
