Lydia was born in 1748 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.1 Lydia's father was Daniel Butler and her mother was Arminell Churchill. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Butler and Mary Kilbourne. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named George, Samuel, George, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Eunice, Abigail, Prudence and Hannah. She was the second youngest of the eleven children.-
