Roger de Clifford III was born in 1248 in Clifford Castle, Hertfordshire, England.1 Roger de Clifford III's father was Roger de Clifford II Baron Clifford and his mother was Loretta Cts de Loretto. His paternal grandparents were Roger de Clifford and Sibyl de Ewyas. He was an only child. He died due to Drowned. at the age of 34 on November 6th, 1282 in Menai Straits, Isle of Anglesey, Wales.2 General Notes

In November 1264, the Marcher Lords Roger de Mortimer & Roger de Clifford rebelled against Simon de Montfort's post-Lewes government. Again Llywelyn ap Gruffydd allied with Montfort & the rebels surrendered at Worcester Dec 12 1264. Mortimer & Clifford were exiled to Ireland for a year.
