Henry I was born in 0876.1 Henry I's father was Otto the Illustrious and his mother was Hedwig. His paternal grandparents were Ludolph and Oda. He had a sister named Oda. He was the younger of the two children. He died in Memleben.1 General Notes

King Henry I (919-936) = Heinrich Der Vogler.
Henry the Fowler (c. 876-936) king of Germany as Henry I from 91 9. The founder of the Saxon dynasty, he was Duke of Saxony fro m 912. He brought Swabia and Bavaria into the German confederati on, regained Lotharingia (925), defeated the Wends in 928 and th e Hungarians in 933 and seized Schleswig from Denmark in 934. H e was about to claim the imperial crown as Holy Roman Emperor i n 936 when he died. He was succeeded by his son, Otto I the Grea t. Another son was St. Bruno (925-65).
