Hugh de Montfort was born in 1020 in of Montfort, Normandy, France.1   Hugh de Montfort's father was Hugh de Montfort-sur-Risle.  His paternal grandfather was Thurstan de Bastenburgh.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 68 in 1088.1
