called Abastaktos [Ref: Brook p19]
The Lekapenoi were of Armenian origin, a family of modest means but not
necessarily of ignoble descent. (Possibly they may have sprung from the
Armenian princely house of Gabelian (p44#79)). The name of the family is
derived from Lakape near Melitene in the anti-Taurus, the birthplace of
EMperor Romanus I. The fall of the family was as rapid as its rise; the
last male Lekapenos, a certain Konstantinos, is mentioned in the eleventh
century. [Ref: Brook p19]
