RESEARCH NOTES:
Count of Auvergne [Ref: Weis AR #144A]
slain in the Battle of Fortenay Jun 25 841 [Ref: Moriarty p26]
kinsman of William the Pious, Duke of Aquitaine, possibly a brother. Actual
relationship is not clear but it seems probable that Gerard was a near
relative of the family of St. William Count of Autun, Marquis of Septemania
under Charlemagne [Ref: Moriarty p214]
