Vladimir I of Kiev 
Vladimir I was born in 0960 in Kiev, Ukraine.1 Vladimir I's father was Svatislav I and his mother was Maloucha. His paternal grandparents were Igor and Olga. He was an only child. He died at the age of 55 on July 15th, 1015 in Berestovo, Kiev, Ukraine.1 General Notes

Although Christianity in Kiev existed before Vladimir's time, h e had remained a pagan, accumulated about seven wives, establish ed temples, and, it is said, taken part in idolatrous rites invo lving human sacrifice.
