William was born in 1081.1   William's father was William de Warenne and his mother was Gundred.  His paternal grandparents were Rodolf de Warenne and Beatrice; his maternal grandfather was Gherbod the Fleming. He had a half-brother named William II.  He died at the age of 57 on May 11th, 1138.1
