Joan was born in 1190 in Stoke, Devanshire, England.1 Joan's father was William de Briwere and her mother was Beatrice De Vaux. Her paternal grandparents were Henry de Briwere and daughter de Walton; her maternal grandparents were Reginald FitzRoy Earl of Cornwall and Beatrice (Mabel) FitzRichard. She had two sisters named Isabel and Gracia. She had a half-sister named Marjorie.-
