Geoffroi Plantagenet was born on November 24th, 1113 in Anjou, France.1 Geoffroi Plantagenet's father was Fulk V of Anjou and his mother was Ermengarde du Maine. His paternal grandparents were Fulk IV of Anjou and Bertrade de Montfort; his maternal grandparents were Helias of Maine and Matilde de Chteau-du-Loir. He had a sister named Sibilla. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 37 on September 7th, 1151 in Le Mans, Maine, France. He was buried in Le Mans, Maine, France.1 1 General Notes

GEOFFROI (or GEOFFREY) PLANTAGENET D'ANJOU le Bel [the Fair], Co mte d'Anjou (1129), Duc de Normandie (1144), son of Foulques V d 'Anjou, Comte d'Anjou (descendant of Charlemagne), by Eremburge , Comtesse Heritiere du Maine, daughter and heiress of Helie d e Baugency, Comte du Maine (descendant of Charlemagne), was bor n on 24 Nov. 1113. He was married on 22 May 1127 to MAUD OF ENGL AND [the Empress Maud], childless widow of Heinrich V Deutsche r Konig, Romischer Kaiser (died 23 May 1125), and daughter of He nry I King of England (descendant of Charlemagne), by Maud (desc endant of Charlemagne), daughter of Malcolm III, King of Scots . She was born on 7 Feb. 1102. They had three children. On Henry 's death in 1135, he claimed the duchy of Normandie, conquerin g it in 1144. He held the duchy, with that of Anjou, until grant ing them to his son Henry. GEOFFROI D'ANJOU died at Le Mans, Mai ne, on 7 Sep. 1151. His widow died on 10 Sep. 1167. Paget (1977) , p. 14.
