Olaf's father was Sihtric Silkbeard Olafsson KIng of Dublin and his mother was Slani ingen Briain O'Brien. His paternal grandparents were Olaf Cuarán Sitricsson King of Dublin & York and Gormflaeth ingen Murchada MacFinn; his maternal grandfather was Brian Bóruma macCennétig King of Ireland.
