Alan's father was Flaald (Fledaldus) FitzAlan and his mother was Aveline de Hesdin. His paternal grandfather was Alan of Dol; his maternal grandfather was Ernulf de Hesdin sn de Hesdin. He was an only child. He died in 1114.1 General Notes
