Bernard I was born about 0940.1 Bernard I's father was Hermann Billung Duke Of Saxony and his mother was Hildegarde Of Westerbourg. His paternal grandparents were Billung Count In Saxony and Fraderuna. He had two sisters named Matilda and Susanhildia. He died in Corvey.1 General Notes
