1991, pp. 198-9) says that Ferreolus's wife Papianilla was
probably a niece of the emperor Avitus. Harries (1994, p. 34,
n. 30) says that she was a generation older, perhaps a sister
or cousin, Les Ancestres de Charlemagne @ Unknown sibling/sex of Emperor Avitus. Settipani (1989 and
