Hanover Co., VA Records:

1734 Nich: Merriwether, of St. Martins Parish, to Robt. Lewis for 5 shillings and natural love, etc, 1500 a. (a part of patent of said Merriwether, 15 June, 1727) extending to the top of the mountain.

25 April, 1734. - Robert Lewis, for L100 paid him by his father-in-law Nicholas Merriwether, promises "to my 5 children, viz., Robert Lewis, Nicholas Lewis, Elizabeth Lewis, Jane Lewis and Ann Lewis, " five negroes, to be delivered at their age.
