Archambaud IX's father was Gui de Dampierre and his mother was Mathilda de Bourbon. His maternal grandparents were Archambaud VIII de Bourbon and Alice de Bourgogne. He was an only child. He died on July 23rd, 1242 in Battle of Taillebourg, near Cognac, France.
