Nancy was born about 1839. Nancy's father was Robert R. Watkins and her mother was Arianna Frances Jane Armistead. Her maternal grandparents were James A. Armistead and Nancy Miller. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Robert W., James A., Thomas, Martha, Sally S. and Elizabeth W.. She was the oldest of the seven children.-
